Faith like a child

Yesterday we sat watching television when the DSTV lost signal. A message came up saying they are working on the problem. Sky sat next to me. She looked at me and asked why the television was off and what did the message say on the screen. I told her: They are working on the problem. Her response: “Okay”. She just carried on watching the screen until the television came on again. She just took my word for it. Mommy said they are working on the problem so they will fix it now. No; “How are they going to fix it”, “What if they can’t fix it”, “How long will it take to fix it”, “Are you sure they can fix it”, “Can’t we fix it ourselves”. She just took my word – it will be fixed. That’s it.

I wish I can just put all my problems in God’s hands and say – He will fix it. Just that. Not try to fix it myself. Trying to jump in and fix things myself. Asking every day – why is this still not fixed. Why me Lord? I today understand why the Bible say we must be like children. They don’t complicate things. They don’t think of everything that can go wrong. They know their parents are there for them. Watching over them, taking care of them. If they are promised something, it will happen. No matter when, how or at what cost. Mommy said it, it will be that way.

God promises us that He will take care of us. In Matthew 6 He promises us that He will take care of us, like He takes care of the sparrows. Even more because He loves us, as His children even more. So why do we complicate things? Why are we not taking His word for it? Surely He knows what is best for us. From now on I will put my trust in Him.. No more; “Why, When and How”
